{"id":189,"date":"2002-01-28T10:20:00","date_gmt":"2002-01-28T10:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/treefell.com\/transmission\/index.php\/2002\/01\/28\/189\/"},"modified":"2014-10-03T14:20:40","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T13:20:40","slug":"189","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/treefell.com\/transmission\/index.php\/2002\/01\/28\/189\/","title":{"rendered":"189"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Library (again)<\/p>\n<p>Yellow<\/p>\n<p>Another weekend visit to the library, this time I got three books out and bought a fourth from the booksale.<br \/>\nI took the <b>George RR Martin<\/b> edited short story anthology back as I never developed the will to read it.<\/p>\n<p>This time round I borrowed:<br \/>\n<b>Shopping Cart Soldiers<\/b> by <b>John Mulligan<\/b>, which sounds like a very interesting take on the Vietman experience.<br \/>\n<b>Thorns<\/b> by <b>Robert Silverberg<\/b>, which I got because it&#8217;s in Gollancz yellow and I&#8217;ve not read any <b>Silverberg<\/b> in ages.  I find <b>Silverberg<\/b> is either excellent or totally forgettable.<br \/>\n<b>Neverwhere<\/b> by <b>Neil Gaiman<\/b>, which I had gotten half way through a month or so back, I was going to get it out again but got distracted at the counter and just handed it back in.<\/p>\n<p>And I bought:<br \/>\n<b>Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger<\/b> by <b>Stephen King<\/b>, which is the first part of a fantasy sequence. I got it because:<br \/>\ni) it was only 30p<br \/>\nii) the storyline feeds into <b>The Black House<\/b> by <b>King<\/b> and <b>Straub<\/b>, which is a sequel to <b>The Talisman<\/b>, and I want to have a clue about the references that book makes when I actually get round to reading it.<br \/>\niii) it&#8217;s the right size for reading on the train.<\/p>\n<p>I almost started reading <b>Winter&#8217;s Heart<\/b> by <b>Robert Jordan<\/b> on Friday night.
