I delayed publication of my list this year because a number of albums that I wanted to consider were Christmas presents or bought in the sales and I needed some time to listen to them properly. It proved to be a good idea as four of those CDs made it into the list.
I think it's a particularly strong top five this year as any of them could have been a number one in another year.
That Stellular stayed at the top of my list for the entire of 2017 (it was released in January) tells you how good of a record it is.
Track of the year for me was Child Among The Weeds by Lal & Mike Waterson from the extraordinary Bright Phoebus album. As re-release the album didn't count for this list but it would have been a contender for album of the year if it had.
My favourite gig of 2017 was Queens of the Stone Age at the Usher Hall - a phenomenal musical experience even if some of the stage banter left a bit to be desired.
